Learning The Door Business…

Back in 2009 I started working for a professional door dealer out of Evansville, Indiana selling CHI & Clopay garage doors.Over the next 8 years I learned a great deal about overhead garage doors starting with warehousing, installation and eventually inside/outside wholesale sales – grossing over 1 million in 2015 & 2016. Experiencing all aspects of the door business was crucial in learning the trade. Door & parts inventory and purchasing, installation, customer service and account acquisition are just a few of the key components to building a successful door business.

To say that I have learned a lot about garage doors in 8 short years would be an understatement. Overhead doors seem very simple – but believe me, you would be shocked at all there is to learn. Nobody really questions how overhead garage doors work until something breaks and the door no longer opens. I have been doing overhead door service almost four years and still learn something new every day.

Why Garage Door Guide?

This site is dedicated to helping do-it-yourselfers learn the trade of servicing garage doors while saving money in the process. I started it in July 2012 mainly because I wanted to keep a record of what I was learning about overhead doors. Since then I’ve added well over 100 articles, tips, tutorials and case studies to my archives here. Since then I’ve also launched a forum for homeowners and do-it-yourselfers to come together to collaborate, learning how to service and repair their own garage doors.
