Drums 400-8 Residential
OMI-8 drums are used on most residential size garage doors with torsion spring assemblies. One pair of drums can support a total door weight of 520 lbs (260 lb each). These drums accept 3/32″ to 1/8″ cable diameters.
These drums are sold in pairs with a right and left side mount. The right side drum is painted red and the left side drum is painted black.
On standard lift doors the right hand drum (red) is located on the left side (inside looking out). The left hand drum (black) is located on the right side (ISLO).
Each drum has two red painted 3/8″ set screws that are used to anchor the drum in place on the torsion tube or shaft.
