The G5446 Electrolift Executive with Code Command Control is a 1/3 hp chain drive opener with a 3-piece T-style rail. It was manufactured in the late 1970s through the early 1980s by Chamberlain and distributed by Sears. The upgraded 1/2 hp version of this opener is model G6446.
Since this garage door opener was manufactured prior to 1993 it doesn’t have modern safety features like photo eyes. Chamberlain added the G6446 and G5446 to the list of Openers No Longer Supported
The main model part numbers are for the Chamberlain Electrolift opener are:
- G6446 1/2 HP Electrolift Opener
- G5446 1/3 HP Electrolift Opener
- G3446 Remote Transmitter
- G2446 Command Center Receiver
In order to adjust the travel limits you have to take the main cover off. The limits are on the main drive shaft, with a plate that locks them in position with a 1/4″ hex screw.
Finding an original remote transmitter for this unit (G3446) is almost impossible. It features 6 dip-switches (2 position) for remote programming. The six dip-switches are located under the cover of the wall control cover. The switches can be placed up or down and are found on the top left corner (blue outline). The switch sequence must match what is found on your remote.
Even the universal remotes made by Chamberlain Liftmaster (375UT, 375LM, 380OUT , KLIK5U-BK2) will not pair up with this unit. The only option is to install an external receiver such as the 312HM (315mhz) receiver. Since the G5446 Electrolift doesn’t have the ability to power the receiver, this external power source like the 85LM Power Adapter is also required.
This combination of an external receiver and upgraded remote can provide a remote signal range of 50ft to almost 100ft. This is surprising given the Electrolift model is four decades old.
The Electrolift features front dual light sockets for two light bulbs to be installed. It also features a wall ” command control” station with lock feature.
